Each piece has a part to play, but at the heart of each of them is conversation. Conversational Intelligence® was developed to bring real life applications of brain chemistry and neurobiology research into the everyday work world. As a coach I work with team members and leadership to recognize and change habits that can impact and reduce team effectiveness. Our brains have a remarkable ability to change, often quite rapidly, and this characteristic can be used to diminish old behavior and establish new behaviors that improve team performance. Innovation and engagement are two aspects of team behavior that can be dramatically shifted.

It is highly recommended that you give yourself at least a week and even a month between modules to actually DO the action steps. It is in the action steps that learning really takes place as it is in implementation that you begin to see the how things integrate and start gaining the actual skill you need to be successful. Doing this during the course means that you can ask for help or input, if you need it.

As part of this course, if a certification of completion is desired, there are weekly actions to be taken and the results of those actions are to be used as the basis for a journal of reflection. Participants will explain what was done, what happened, what went well and what was learned.

I am a coach, consultant, author and educator; an expert in ethics, systems thinking and change, my work brings a resilient and futurist approach to the pressing needs of my clients. I work with the whole person; body, mind, spirit and emotion, helping my clients learn to fly. That means to live authentically and to impact the world profoundly. My clients are values-based leaders wanting to make a difference.

My entire career has been working to develop collaborative organizations. Collaboration does not come easily to some people, but it is a skill that can be learned. Collaboration is NOT consensus. The rotating leadership and shifting contributions essential to true collaboration makes it difficult to tell who did what, eliminating the competition and power plays so common to most organizations.

Collaboration requires different structures and ways of working together. I have spent my entire career collecting techniques and methods that have proven track records with other organizations. Collaboration takes time and education to institutionalize because people need to forget old ways of working and give up old habits. Providing experience in new ways of working together helps immeasurably in this transition, that why I work with collaborative techniques in my meeting designs.

I am the co-creator of the Transformational Learning and Performance Matrix with Vern Allee.

As a professional photographer I have been recording the essence of nature for over forty years. By making small things important I intend to expose the essence of my subjects, sharing that blessing with others.

I have a Master’s degree in Organizational Development and Transformation and have done doctorate work at Saybrook University in the areas of systems thinking and organizational development. I am also a Spiritual Humanist minister and a certified Conversational Intelligence® coach. My strong spiritual background and the help of my Unitarian Universalist church and friends allowed me to beat stage three b liver cancer without using either chemo or radiation in 2005, giving me some insight into the relationship of the body, mind and spirit.
